Fashion Week Packing Guide

Fashion Week Packing Guide

It is that time of year again ladies. Fashion week is just a few days away! A week is a funny way to put it actually because it is more like a fashion month between the preps, coverage and the after runway must haves.

Fashion week is one of the most strategic packing jobs of the year I'd have to say. Keeping in mind comfort, my most stylish pieces, convertible and versatile garments and of course the beauty bag essentials to keep me looking fresh throughout the day.

I tend to stay on the sleek side of things in all black, white and or black and white combos but I go bold with my shoe game. Better sleek then sorry I always say! Below are a my top fashion week wardrobe essentials plus a few beauty tips that will keep me looking fresh throughout the day.

First and foremost is making sure to pack the right shoes. Right now I am loving the comfort of a pair of flat above the knee leather boots like these from Zara. The gold chain accent give me the classy yet edgy vibes the New York runway's require.

A pair of booties in a bold statement color and metallic material like these Salvatore Ferragamo's are crucial so you can turn heads while staying comfortable throughout the day.

I am also packing a pair (or 3 ) of statement heels for the after show mixers and networking events. I just packed these Manolo Blahnik pink heels and I just love how vibrant and fun the color is!

Second thing I focus on packing is my poncho game. The Saint poncho is an essential fashion week garment because it is sleek, versatile and comfortable. With so much to do and so little time the Saint poncho is a no brainer. Because of its classic elegance and bohemian flow it adds the perfect amount of movement and subtle drama to any pair of skinny's I throw on.

I'll wear the Bora Bora tie dye poncho on the trip there and the way back with a pair of comfortable yoga pants and slippers and my white nike cap. The best part is that I can toss both ponchos in my bag and not have to worry because they are wrinkle free. Literally can't get any more comfortable and convenient than that!

Next to focus on is the jacket game. Think leather, velvet, and plaid. These are the top trending blazers for fall fashion and I am wasting no time sporting my new fall finds. With the unpredictable New York weather you can never be too prepared plus no one ever tells you how cold they keep the runways! Drape these over your shoulders or cuff up the sleeves for a sportier vibe. Again I keep it sleek with a consistent pallet so that my looks can be interchangeable on the go.

First up is the seasons biggest jacket trend. Online shoppers in America searched for "plaid blazers" 650% more this year than last year. The numbers don't lie and I anticipate seeing variations of plaid throughout the week on some of the top fashion week fashionista's. This double breasted houndstooth blazer is from Zara and it is a steal selling for under $100

Another jacket I am currently dying to get into this season is the Rachel Zoe black velvet tuxedo jacket. I am imagining this over my shoulders during the cocktail and networking hours and for any of the fancier shows I'd be attending.

Let's be real, you can't 'hang' in New York unless you can rock a black leather jacket. Pair with literally any of the shoes above as this jacket is one of the most versatile garments your wardrobe should have this fall. This black leather jacket is from Free People and I especially love the rose embroidery and studs.

Accessories that I cannot live without during fashion week are up next. I have always gotten most compliments from this Bao Bao Issey Miyake Lucent Tote. With it's edgy, geometric design this Issey Miyake cult-favorite is a guaranteed conversation starter which leads me to my second must have accessory (business card case). Any of the color's available work with the color pallet I've packed so it is definitely hard to choose between these two!

The Bao Bao Issey Miyake Lucent Card Case is where I house all my business cards. With all the new people I will be conversing with it is important to bring extra business cards and have a special place to keep the ones you get. After all networking and creating new contacts is key during fashion week so why not do it with style with this trendy set.

What else can you find in my Issey Bag - a hot red Panama Notebook for all my runway notes and follow up meetings. I love the hot red for an accent color with my black and white color pallet and it is also super easy to find when I am scrambling and rushing to the next scene!

Now that we got the style and fall trends out of the way I think most people over look the importance of an extra boost in skin care preps between traveling and a bustling schedule. But let's not forget the amount of street style photographers, fashion bloggers and over all paparazi that will be snapping away all week. Keep yourself looking fresh by packing these four beauty essentials.

Spend less time blowdrying and curling your hair and more time at the shows by packing the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day dry shampoo. It is special because of it's time released fragrance that delivers a light fresh scent throughout the day while also absorbing oil and sweet from the scalp. Scoop the travel size for an easy fit in your purse.

A trick I have learned is to pack a few face and eye masks for the week to ensure your skin is getting extra hydration for an increased glow and antioxidants to fight the pollutants from the new york city living. This particular Green Tea Water Bomb Mask is packed with hyaluronic acid which delivers water to the thirsty skin cells while the Green Tea acts as a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. It is composed of 95% organic aloe water and 5% plant cellulose made to intensely hydrate.

Pair the mask with the Bright Eye Mask to gain the full spa effects. It is a highly caffeinated eye mask that brightens and de-puffs. Umm yes please! The Bright Eye Mask is jam packed with hydrogel which assist in delivering active ingredients onto your skin. The longer you leave the mask on your skin, you'll notice the thinner the hydrogel mask becomes as your skin is actively absorbing the water.

The last trick I have up my sleeve is this handy Evian Mineral Water Spray. I generally spritz a few minutes before I arrive, well, any where during fashion week and it is also a good mid day or after show fresher upper. Be sure to take a few moments to dry so you appear dewey opposed to sweaty.

Well that is all for now. I hope my fashion essentials for New York fashion week will help inspire the looks you pack and give you confidence in what items you absolutely need to bring. Leave a comment below if you have any questions about packing for fashion week or leave feedback if you purchase any items mentioned here so I know how they worked out for you!

Until next time...
